StarNet Releases X-Win32 2012

Sunnyvale, CA – August 1, 2011 --  StarNet Communications of Sunnyvale, California, a leading developer of X11 connectivity solutions, today announced X-Win32 2012 featuring a fully proprietary set of code for maintaining persistent connections between Windows PCs and remote Unix and Linux application hosts. The new release also feature fast new code when connecting to individual remote applications.

Version 2012 will enable StarNet engineers to implement new features and fix code issues faster. The new release also offers new Direct 2D drawing support. This significantly speeds up the display of remote-running X applications on the Windows desktop when users connect to Unix and Linux servers in so-called rootless/multiple window mode. Previously the Direct 2D support was made available in the remote desktop/single window connection mode.

Finally, for the first time, all of Starnet’s client desktop programs, X-Win32 for Windows, MacLIVE for the Apple Macintosh platform and LinuxLIVE for Linux-based PCs now use the Reprise License Management (RLM) system. A single license key can now enable customers to activate any of the three products.

LIVE technology is StarNet’s commercial alternative to VNC, allowing Windows and Linux users to reconnect to applications running on remote Unix and Linux hosts after an otherwise fatal network, power or system failure. Users can also share their remote applications with other Windows users and suspend their sessions on their office PC and resume them at home.
